Dayenu means “it would have been enough or sufficient.”
You gave us the New Covenant—Dayenu
You gave us Apostles as prophets and teachers—Dayenu
You loved Israel and the people—Dayenu
You led us to the true Aliyeh to God—Dayenu
You brought us to Mount Zion and laid the foundation—Dayenu
You gave us Truth no ears had ever heard—Dayenu
You did many miracles and raised the dead—Dayenu
You taught us to be holy and righteous—Dayenu
You taught us to forgive and judge not—Dayenu
If you had only suffered the rejection of the Temple cult—Dayenu
If you had been rejected only by the Romans—Dayenu
If you had suffered only the slap by the Sanhedrin—Dayenu
If you had suffered only the crown of thorns—Dayenu
If you had only suffered a broken heart for us—Dayenu
If you had suffered only the stripes on your back—Dayenu
If you had only carried your cross a little way—Dayenu
If you had only shed one drop of your blood—Dayenu
You struggled to Calvary for us—Dayenu
If you loved us only before all the suffering—Dayenu
You surrendered to the nails in your hands and feet—Dayenu
All of this would have been enough—Dayenu
But, you took the bitter cup—Dayenu
You tasted and would not drink—Dayenu
You observed the contradiction of sinners—Dayenu
You rewarded their hate with forgiveness—Dayenu
They wanted you to die for the nation—Dayenu
They wagged their heads and spoke blasphemies—Dayenu
For six hours you suffered pain and agony—Dayenu
And then you gave up the ghost—Dayenu
Your blood was shed, the sacrifice offered, redemption was purchased—Dayenu
O, Lord Jesus Christ, you are worthy. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world (Rev 5:12).
